HP 4320s laptop - How to keep HDMI output to external monitor while closing lid
Despite many different methods available online, the only way that seems to do the trick is found here:

Disable DPMS, you can read a lot of information about it here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Display_Power_Management_Signaling . Both works on my laptop:
Disable DPMS and prevent screen from blanking:
xset -dpms; xset s off
edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and append in Monitor section
Option "DPMS" "false"
